high school love letters...

high school love letters
do you still remember writing addresses of love, on a perfumed writing pad and putting dedications at the end...

What was the funniest/strangest thing you said or was written to you?

Here is one to help you remember those high school love letters:

********************

** ROLL DOWN TOU YOU ** KISS BEFORE YOU READ

** " P D N F"--- please do no fold

Roll down to you sweetiepie Babe!
Time and ability plus double capacity has forced my pen to dance automatically on this benedicted sheet of paper. Why! this miraculous thing happened is because papie I love you spontaneously and as I stand horizontal to the wall and perpendicular to the ground I only think of you, since you are a fantastic and fabulous guy. papie please Stop haranguing with the feelings in my heart because I love you more than a snake loves rat. To me each day starts by thinking of you and ends by dreaming of you. Each time I see you my metabolism suddenly stops and my peristalysis goes in reverse gear My medular-oblandata also stops functioning.

Crazy crazy crazy you may say but this is true. If only you knew what is going on in my encephalon you would understand. That's why I need to see you face to face with you, soon. I think I have to pen-off hear because I still haven't finished studying electrolysis and polymerization. Catch you pa- later. Sleep tight and don't let those bed bugs ever bite you coz you are too sweet a thing for them.

Yourz Ever,
Sugar tapi tapi

ha ha, thats a laugh. A friend emailed me those letters with two ugly photos at the end that would just make you cringe. Whatever anybody says about high school letters, I dont remember ever writting such crazy stuff... but I remember a friend once got a letter from her boyfriend saying he misses her "like an apple out of season". That was THE joke for rest of the year!!!

What I miss & what I don't miss about Zim..
A trip to Zimbabwe early 2000s: We landed in a country racked by political upheaval. At 9:00 AM the Harare airport lay quiet, deserted; twenty minutes to obtain a visa, retrieve our luggage, and clear customs/passport control. We left the modern International terminal and with the guidance of friendly locals, found the sleepy building that served as the domestic terminal. A sign read: "check firearms & ammunition." A large room that looked like a coat-check served as firearm storage. Two armed men passed us. Out-of-sync with this scene, the general atmosphere and mood was not sinister. Skies clear, temperature 18 Celsius, people smiled and answered our inquiring looks in English. Easy traveling.

Last night we arrived in Victoria Falls and met our truck crew: Big Boy and Jeff, drivers, and Joshua, camp master. Along with us are two other tourists, Amanda and Steven from Australia. The truck itself is a gutted moving van turned into a custom transport for up to 25 people. All day today we rafted and river-boarded the Zambezi River, an activity we tried and enjoyed last year. We didn't paddle by any drowned tourists, as we did last year, but we passed small crocodiles sunning on the riverbank. Afterwards, exhausted and hungry, we ate a delicious meal that began with cold mapani worms, called caterpillars in English. Caterpillars taste like rubber chicken.

Skyrocketing inflation grips this country, which has created interesting consequences for us. Never has comparison-shopping been more important, luckily, Jill has trained her entire life for these situations - she's a professional shopper. First, money exchange - the banks offer $55 Zim for $1 US, however, street changers offer up to $300 Zim for $1 US. Consumer prices vary widely. A box of cereal can cost $500 Zim or $50 Zim. Our rafting excursion cost $35 US, the other people paid $100 US. Most things are much cheaper - the US dollar is five times more valuable than last year. Pay for everything in Zim dollars. Entrance fee for Victoria Falls overlook: $20 US or $1100 Zim (equivalent $4 US). Paying with Zim money, we can eat steak dinners for the equivalent of $2 US. Whole pizzas costs $2 US and Jill bought a nice hat for $1.50 US.

We're amazed at the difference one year can make.
We see a lot more beggars in the streets, a said sign of the current economic crisis. What's the problem? A struggle between rich farmers and landless peasants, called war veterans in this drama, overseen by a president who is using the conflict to stay in power. Also, add a heavy dose of racial tension. Sound like a party?

Since wealth redistribution involves taking as well as giving, conflict erupts; During this ongoing conflict, the corruption is the main meal, foreign investment flees, and inflation as well as food shortages run rampant. No wonder we don't see many tourists and our truck, fitted for 25 people, only has four passengers.

Does anyone remember 'greenland of love'? What of those guys who promised to swim the deepest ocean for us, climb the highest mountain for us, yet beat it at the slightest sign that a little bit of indulgence had led to the reproductive systems going into over drive? There was a time too when the tendy guys came to woo us wearing bell bottomed trousers whose hems rolled down to the platform shoe we nicknamed 'mumango'. And of course we called these guys 'mbada' though now I couldn't honestly tell you why we referred to them thus. My mind goes into overdrive and I am inclined to think it is to do with that saying that goes 'a leopard never changes its spots.' Still, we loved to have the guys pay us attention even though some of them were daft enough to double cross us with ourschool mates. On 2nd thoughts, they probably weren't the daft ones, but us who, upon discovering the deception set out to claw each other's eyes out over the guy. Life sure is funny. I wonder, are there any high school sweet hearts out there who got to marry and are still together?

well receiving letters every other day after study period with no names just in case it fell in the wrong hands, with words like i love your legs and the way you walk you remind me of naomi cambell on the catwalk and things like i can't live without you. then you remember you have two boyfriends and ain't aware who the letter is from so you reply both discretely

once my high school boyfriend sent me a love letter with some really deep words and i mean really deep (for that age). when i read that letter i fell in love with him more. i sat in my bed at night thinking about that letter and as much as i hated school i just sat there waiting for dawn to break so i could go to school to see my honey. it had mathematic formulae and science terminology, i always sat thinking about how i bagged myself a boy with both looks and brains. just a year ago i was listening to my mama's cd and this lionel richie song started to play. as it played it sounded so familiar:
love can have its mysteries, some strange enchanted notion, you can't explain just how it begins, a feel, a smile a portion, but something goes off in your head... one glance is all it took and i knew you and i were so right, lovers at first sight. i was in form 1 at the time and that boy gave me sleepless nights as he was my first love. the letter also had some dedications at the bottom and now i just don't understand what their purpose was but at the time a letter didn't seem right without the dedications. as silly as it might sound i have recurring thoughts of that boy. amazing what plagiarism can do to a girl's heart!

high school love letters
There are so many childhood memories of growing up in my hometown. Television was the last thing we ever thought of. All we ever did was play until we could play no more. I remember playing nhodo, raka raka, pada, sweetie sweetie, chisveru, Christopher Columbus, chimuhwande hwande and not forgetting fish fish. Taking a bath at around 4pm and having tea ya4 nerofu rekwalobels. I remember everyone gathering around one household to watch Mukadota. Bedtime at 8pm just when the news started. Going into town we had to dress up mumahigh heels and all. Family yese could fit in a small car. Holidays kumusha to see the grandparents and eating manhanga, magaka, nzimbe, chibage, tsubvu, muriwo une dovi, mukaka wakakora, mahewu, nyimo, muboora, tea hobvu. Going kurwizi to wash clothes and take a bath. Going to school in our well ironed school uniforms. I remember by 5pm the town is closed and everyone goes home. Easter and other holidays are recognized by everyone and the whole country takes time to celebrate. Boarding school was something else, with black trucks that had our names engraved in white big letters. Ko Christmas was a time for new clothes, special meal rice and chicken.
