In 1935 work began on the Luveve Township of Bulawayo. The houses were intended for married African couples although singles would often be taken in as lodgers.
Luveve was named in honour of Col C L Curbutt.
Curbutt was Bulawayo's Chief Native Commissioner. He first came to the country in 1897 from Natal. Why 'Luveve'?
